Undr The Cosh is a football-focused podcast and YouTube channel hosted by Chris Brown – a writer and devoted football fan – with co-hosts Jon Parkin and Chris Brown, both former professional football players.
Digital Playmakers were tasked with upgrading their sales and media deck copy. With the main objective to catch readers attention and drive them into sales pipeline, ultimately bringing in business for the rapidly growing brand.
As a start-up it is always difficult highlighting your own achievements that in comparison to competitors may seem like nothing. However, in Undr The Cosh’s case there is plenty to talk about. Recruiting a third-party and allowing them to write sales copy looking from the outside in can make all the difference between an effective sales deck, resulting in leads generated and one that ends up in the trash alongside an empty calendar.
Challenges included drawing out vital information and metrics, presenting them at the forefront in an easily digestible fashion that would ultimately benefit the reader and Undr The Cosh. Whilst producing the copy it was important that the tone and language used remained inline with their strong brand values and loveable content, which is authentic, straight talking and humorous.
The end result of our work with Undr The Cosh was beautifully polished sales copy, highlighting the unbelievable and rapid results they have achieved in a short space of time.
Authenticity and creativity was integral throughout production, but we also unearthed noteworthy and impressive charitable commitments. Assisting a brand to achieve such great success whilst thinking of others during a sports and advertising industry crisis caused by the pandemic is fantastic to see.
In just two years, Undr The Cosh has flown straight to the top of the sports podcast charts on iTunes alongside winning the prestigious Football Blogging Award for Best Football League Podcast in 2020 and has since been published in world-renowned media outlets including The Guardian, talkSPORT, SPORTbible and The Mirror.
The success is largely down to the authentic and good-natured attitude brought to an increasingly regimented and scripted industry. Of which, football is anything but… This resulted in remarkable audience growth where fans have become highly invested and engaged, creating a strong sense of community and producing over 100,000 weekly listeners and an impressive 5.5 million podcast downloads.
